ITHACA, N.Y. — Senior defender Caitlin Tully and sophomore midfielder Lexie Tully of the Cornell Big Red women's lacrosse were each named to the 2026 IWLCA Northeast Region Second Team, the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association announced this week.
The honor recognizes 128 student-athletes across Division I who were selected to one of the organization's all-region teams. All-region selections are now eligible for consideration for the 2026 IWLCA All-America teams, which will be announced on May 21.
The Tully sisters each earned all-region recognition following standout seasons for the Big Red. Caitlin Tully capped her senior campaign by earning First Team All-Ivy League and Academic All-Ivy League honors while serving as Cornell's defensive captain. She started all 15 games and led the team in ground balls (35), caused turnovers (35) and draw controls (53).
Her 35 caused turnovers ranked third in a single season in program history, while her 53 draw controls tied for eighth-best in a season at Cornell. Tully also concluded her career ranked fourth all-time in program history with 79 caused turnovers. She matched a career high with seven draw controls in Cornell's 11-10 victory over Yale in the regular-season finale.
"Caitlin shined in her senior year leading our team valiantly as our defensive captain," head coach Jenny Graap said. "She competed consistently in every game bringing intensity and drive to every play; we rarely took her off the field because her leadership was so critical to our team's success. Caitlin set the tone with her relentless fight for ground balls and draw controls making important plays for the Big Red; she played an aggressive take-away style of defense and earned many caused turnovers with her checks. She leaves big shoes to fill in Cornell's backfield."
Lexie Tully earned Second Team All-Ivy League honors after a breakout sophomore season in which she started all 15 games in the midfield. She totaled 21 goals and three assists while adding 20 ground balls, 28 draw controls and 20 caused turnovers. Her caused turnover total ranked eighth in the Ivy League.
Tully scored a season-high four goals in Cornell's 14-12 victory over Princeton and helped close the season with a strong all-around effort in the Big Red's upset of then-No. 9 Yale, recording three ground balls, four draw controls and two caused turnovers in the 11-10 victory.
"Lexie had a break-out sophomore season for the Big Red," Graap said. "She earned a starting midfield position and stepped up her contribution on the draw circle and in both the attacking and defensive ends of the field. Lexie is a dangerous dodger who uses her speed well to set up her shots. We are thrilled to have her for two more years, and as a junior she will serve as one of our team captains."
