SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Le Moyne scored six runs in the final three innings, including two in the bottom of the ninth, as the Cornell baseball team dropped a 7-6 contest to the Dolphins on Wednesday afternoon at Dick Rockwell Field in Syracuse, N.Y.

Marshall Yanzick, Nate David and Mickey Brodsky each had a pair of hits on the day for the Big Red, while Brandon Lee and Jadd Schmeltzer both drove in a pair of runs. David Rochefort took the loss for Cornell, working the final 1.2 innings and allowing one earned run.

Brodsky got the start on the mound and worked two innings, allowing one run on three hits while striking out three. Mike Kazley worked two innings of scoreless relief, with Matt Hill pitching an inning and two-thirds without allowing a baserunner. Rick Marks then worked two-thirds of an inning, allowing one run, before Brian Billigen came on and allowed three runs in one-third of an inning. Rochefort then came on and was tagged with the loss in closing out the contest.

In the first, Yanzick started the Cornell offense by hitting a line drive single back up the middle and moved to third when Brodsky doubled just inside the line in right. Hager then hit a come-backer to the mound, and Yanzick was caught in a rundown, with Brodsky advancing to third. After Hager stole second, Lee singled to right, scoring both Brodsky and Hager.

Le Moyne got a run back in the bottom half of the first when Zach Wiley singled and moved to second on a ball in the dirt. Chris Edmonson then hit a one-out single to right-center, scoring Wiley from second.

The Big Red added to the lead in the fifth when David hit a one-out single to center and stole a pair of bases to move to third. He then came home on Schmeltzer's towering home run to left with two out.

The Dolphins closed the gap off of Billigen in the seventh, when Don Schaaf hit a two-run home run to right-center, cutting Cornell's lead to 4-3. A pair of walks followed, with Matt Ciraco looping a single to right, scoring one, and another came home on a wild pitch by Rochefort to give LeMoyne a 5-4 lead.

Cornell tied the score back up in the top of the eighth when David doubled off the base of the wall in center, then stole second and scored on Matt Langseth's two-out single up the middle.

In the ninth, Yanzick got the rally started by reaching on a throwing error, then moved to third on Brodsky's double. After Rochefort grounded out to third, Yanzick was called out trying to steal home on a missed squeeze bunt. Lee then hit a grounder to short, and the second error of the inning pulled the first baseman's foot off the bag, allowing Brodsky to score from third with the go-ahead run.

LeMoyne once again rallied in the ninth, as Don Schaaf led off the inning with a double to right center. Paul Speicher then laid down a bunt that was fielded by Rochefort, but his throw to first went wide of the bag, allowing Schaaf to score the tying run. A pair of intentional walks followed before Mike Marra delivered a single to right to score the game-winning run with one out.

Cornell returns to action on Saturday when it opens up Ivy League play with a doubleheader against Dartmouth in a rematch of last year's Ivy League Championship Series. First pitch of Saturday's first game is slated for 12 p.m. at Hoy Field in Ithaca.
