ITHACA, N.Y. -- Dartmouth took control of a tightly played game with a 6-0 run that featured the final three goals of the first half and the first three of the second to knock off Cornell 9-6 on Saturday afternoon at Schoellkopf Field. The seventh-ranked Big Green improved to 9-1 (4-0 Ivy), while the Big Red fell to 3-7 (2-3 Ivy).

Sophomore Jessi Steinberg had three goals and added two draw control wins for the Big Red, while Katie Kirk had three caused turnovers, three ground balls and scored a goal. Caroline Helmer had a pair of caused turnovers and both Morgan Hale and Libby Johnson won a pair of ground balls. In goal, Kyla Dambach had three saves for Cornell in the loss.

For Dartmouth, Kirsten Goldberg was credited with three goals, including two in the first two minutes of the game. Julie Wadland made six saves between the pipes and also won three ground balls for Dartmouth. Sarah Parks added two goals and won three of Dartmouth's eight draws.

Cornell held a narrow 17-16 edge in shots and a 9-8 advantage in draw controls, with the Big Green winning 21 ground balls to 14 for the Big Red.

The 6-0 Dartmouth run came in the span of 14 minutes of game action, but Cornell controlled play over much of the other 45 minutes. After falling behind 2-0 after a pair of early Goldberg scores, the home team scored four of the next five to go ahead 4-3 with 12:43 left. Sarah Parks tied the game with 7:52 left in the first half to trigger the Big Green's run. The visitors went into the break with a 6-4 lead.

That advantage grew to 9-4 and Goldberg, Sarah Plumb and Erin Massimo each got on the board in succession over the first seven minutes of the second half. The Big Red cut it to 9-6 after Steinberg and Kirk scored, but Dartmouth stalled the game out for much of the final 10 minutes to remain unbeaten in Ivy play.
