Men’s Tennis Wraps Up Competition at UVA Fall Classic

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Cornell men's tennis team concluded its first tournament of the 2010 fall schedule today as it wrapped up play at the UVa Fall Classic at the Snyder Tennis Center in Charlottesville, Va. The Big Red is back in action next weekend as the squad travels to the Princeton Invitational, beginning on Friday, Sept. 17.

UVA Fall Classic Highlights
* In blue singles, Andy Gauthier took fifth-place, earning a pair of victories after falling in Saturday's quarterfinals.
* In orange singles, Jeremy Feldman lost his opening round match on Friday, but rebounded with two victories on Saturday in the backdraw.
* In orange singles, Jon Jaklitsch lost his opening round match on Friday, but came back to earn a win on Saturday in the backdraw.
* In gold singles, Zhongming Chen earned his first collegiate victory on Friday before falling in Saturday's quarterfinals. He went on to a fifth-place finish.
* In red singles, Max Haskin responded to an opening round loss by winning his next three matches, including the finals of the backdraw.
* Mirza Klis won the main draw of the green singles.
* In blue doubles, Jon Jaklitsch and Mirza Klis rebounded from an opening round loss on Friday with a victory on Saturday to reach the championship match of the backdraw. The results from their Sunday match were not reported.
* In orange doubles, Andy Gauthier and Jeremy Feldmen lost on Friday but advanced to the final match of the backdraw, where the fell 9-8.
* In black doubles, Max Haskin and Charles Quay won 8-6 to advance to Saturday's quarterfinals. The pair finished in fourth-place.
* In green doubles, Zhongming Chen and Chris Song advanced to the final match in the backdraw, wher they fell, 8-5.
