ITHACA, N.Y. -- Megan Bartlett made six saves in goal and the Big Red got a pair of second half goals to make her effort stand up as Cornell topped Bucknell 2-0 on Sunday afternoon. Cornell improved to 2-3 on the year, while the Bison fell to 1-8.

The win, Cornell's second of the season, surpassed last year's mark when the team was 1-13-1. It added to its goals scored tally as well, giving the team 11 goals in just five matches. For the entire 2009 campaign, Cornell found the back of the net just eight times total.

In an evenly played match throughout, it was Cornell who dented the scoreboard first when Maneesha Chitanvis got behind the defense and Abigail Apistolas  lobbed a ball over theri heads, leading to a quick strike from the sophomore in the 58th minutes. Cornell added an insurance goal when Annmarie Irwin went near post off a wide pass from Xandra Hompe for insurance in the 71st minute.

Bartlett made four of her saves in the final 45 minutes to stave off the Bison, who were out-shot just 15-13 and were even in corners (6-6).

Women's soccer will remain on the road this week when it visits Binghamton on Wednesday, Sept. 22 at 7 p.m. in Vestal, N.Y.
