NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Despite dropping a 4-1 contest in the regular-season finale at Yale on Saturday night, the Cornell men's hockey team still secured a bye in the upcoming ECAC Hockey tournament as the fourth seed.

Keir Ross both collected an assist on the night as Cornell finished the game scoreless in four power-play chances.
For Yale, Andrew Miller had a pair of goals, while Broc Little and Clinton Bourbonais chipped in one each. Kenny Agostino had a pair of assists, with Brian O'Neill, Denny Kearney, Chad Ziegler and Kevin Limbert each adding one. Ryan Rondeau made 18 saves in the victory for the third-ranked Bulldogs.
A confluence of events transpired on Saturday evening, the result of which was a fourth-place tie between Cornell, Rensselaer and Princeton. Along with the Big Red's loss to Yale, Rensselaer tied Quinnipiac, 2-2, and Princeton dropped a 5-0 contest to league regular-season champion Union. With the three teams tied, Cornell won the tiebreaker to take the fourth seed, with Rensselaer finishing with the fifth seed and Princeton taking the sixth.
After a scoreless first period that saw Garman make 14 saves, the Bulldogs got on the scoreboard with Miller's first goal of the night, a power-play goal. Miller ripped a wrist shot from the dot to the right of Garman that clanged off the goal post and in on his glove side at the 9:17 mark of the period.
The Bulldogs made the score 2-0 when Bourbonais fired a shot from the slot through a pair of Cornell defensemen that again rang off the post and in with 4:19 to play in the second period. Yale then made the score 3-0 with Little's goal, being sprung on a breakaway with a pass from his own blue line. The puck hopped over the stick of a Cornell defenseman and onto Little's, and he finished the play off with a left-side wrist shot with 3:13 to play in the second.
Cornell wasn't finished, though, as despite being on the penalty kill, Ross sent a pass ahead to Jillson, who led Miller with a pass that the sophomore controlled before beating Rondeau with a wrist shot from the slot, slipping the puck underneath the senior netminder with 1:50 to play in the period.
Despite pressing to draw the game closer, Cornell could not cut into the deficit, and Miller capped the scoring of the game with an empty-net tally with 2:07 to play in the contest with a shot from his own blue line.
