ITHACA, N.Y. -- Joe Devin had a goal and two assists while Greg Miller chipped in a pair of assists to lead the Cornell men's hockey team to a 5-2 victory over Clarkson on Friday night at Lynah Rink. Mike Devin and Tyler Roeszler both had a goal and an assist for the Big Red on the night.
John Esposito and Sean Collins both added a goal for the Big Red (10-9-3, 8-5-2 ECAC Hockey), while Patrick Kennedy, Jordan Kary and Braden Birch each tallied an assist. Mike Garman got the start and picked up 23 saves on the night as Cornell went 3-for-5 on the power-play for the evening.

For Clarkson, Brandon DeFazio and David Pratt scored goals, with Jake Morley picking up two assists and Julien Cayer and Nick Tremblay both adding one. Paul Karpowich made 23 saves in the losing effort for the Golden Knights (12-12-2, 6-7-1). Clarkson finished the evening 1-for-6 on the power play.

Cornell got on the board at the 4:13 mark of the period with Mike Devin's goal, a power-play blast with Cornell on a 4-on-3 advantage, ripping a slap shot after getting a feed from Roeszler, and Cornell took that 1-0 lead into the first intermission.

In the second, Esposito scored his sixth goal of the year just 1:31 into the period, finishing a wrap-around chance to put Cornell ahead, 2-0. DeFazio cut the deficit in half at the 6:00 mark of the period, circling around in front of the crease and slipping the puck past the outstretched arm of Garman. Cornell then went back up by two at the 12:10 mark of the period with Joe Devin tipping home a shot from the point by his brother as the Big Red finished the second period ahead, 3-1.

In the third, Collins tacked on a short-handed goal at the 10:48 mark, collecting an outlet pass high off the glass from Birch and slipping the puck underneath Karpowich to make the score 4-1. Less than a minute later, Pratt knotted the score with his quick wrist shot that beat Garman inside the upper corner of the goal, making the score 4-2. That would be the margin until the game's closing seconds when Roeszler added an empty-net goal with 21 seconds to play to cap the scoring.

Cornell returns to action on Saturday, playing host to St. Lawrence in a 7 p.m. contest at Lynah Rink.
