PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- The fourth-ranked Penn Quakers raced out to a 5-0 lead, saw its advantage cut to one with 10 minutes to play and held on for a 10-6 victory over a hard-charging Cornell squad on Sunday afternoon at Franklin Field. The Quakers improved to 7-1 on the season (3-0 Ivy), while the Big Red slipped to 3-5 (1-2 Ivy).
Jessi Steinberg scored three goals,
Libby Johnson had a goal and two assists and
Katie Kirk found the back of the net twice to lead the Cornell offense.
Kate Ivory caused three turnovers and posted a team-high five ground balls in front of goalkeeper
Kyla Dambach, who made seven saves in the loss.
Eight different players scored for Penn, with Erin Brennan leading the way with two goals and an assist. Maddie Poplawski also added a pair of scores. Alison Tatios won four draws as the home team held a 12-6 edge, including a 9-2 advantage in the first half.
