ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell women's polo team moved closer to its goal of a 13th national title with a 22-11 victory over No. 4 seed Texas A&M on Wednesday afternoon at Oxley Equestrian Center in the national semifinal. The undefeated Big Red (20-0) will face No. 2 seed Virginia, an 18-17 overtime winner over Kentucky in the other semifinal, on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
Cornell opened the day and fell behind 2-0 and 3-2 before rallying to take a 7-4 lead at the end of one. Cornells's team of

Kailey Eldredge and
Lizzie Wisner opened up a bigger lead in the second and went into halftime up 12-5. Jess Cross replaced Hoffman in the second half and Cornell continued to extend its lead, heading into the final chukker up 16-8. The Big Red extended its advantage to 13 (22-9) with 1:20 left before taking home the victory.
Cornell's opponent will be Virginia, who had to score the tying goal off a #2 penalty with no time left. The foul was committed with one second left in the game. It was their second #2 within 20 seconds, missing the first before scoring the equalizer. In the shootout, the Cavaliers won on the last player of the round.
