THE HEAD COACH
Coach Terry Cullen is now in his 47th season at the helm of the Big Red program with a 166-127-7 record (.565). Cullen has been a member of the coaching staff since 1964 and officially became the Terry Cullen Head Coach of Sprint Football in 2001.

THE CO-HEAD COACH
In August 2008, Cornell announced that Bart Guccia would assume a majority of the on-field coaching and gameday decisions for the Big Red. Guccia is now in his seventh year with the team and has posted a 19-11 record (.633) in his new role.

ABOUT ARMY
The Black Knights, based in West Point, are a perennial league powerhouse and are off to another undefeated start this season. Army, at 3-0 overall and 2-0 in CSFL play, is again a favorite to claim the league title. Putting up at least 42 points in each of its first two games this season, Army's offense is incredibly potent and balanced by a defense that has given up, on average, just over 10 points a game. Army shut out SUN Y Maritime 42-0 in its season opener, downed Post 63-28 in week two and throttled Mansfield 52-6 on Saturday.

THE SERIES WITH ARMY
The Big Red and Black Knights have squared off 72 times in history with Army holding a hefty  75 percent success rate over Cornell. The Black Knights have claimed 54 of 72 contests with no ties in the series. When the teams met in 2011, Cornell scored first to take a 10-0 lead, but the Black Knights responded with stout defense the rest of the way and racked up 41 points on its way to a 41-16 victory. The Big Red last beat Army in 2010 by a 20-10 score, tallying 17 points in the second quarter in that contest.

SCOUTING THE BLACK KNIGHTS
Army's offense continues to roll through three weeks of the season. The Black Knights are averaging 180 rushing yards per game to go along with 349 yards per game through the air. Quarterback Javier Sustaita is completing 63 percent of his passes for 977 yards and 12 touchdowns already, while running back Marquis Morris and Gabriel Cobb are over five yards per carry. The Black Knights also have three receivers with three or more touchdowns on the season.
On defense, Army has compiled 12 sacks already, five interceptions and is allowing just 37.7 rushing yards per game from opponents. Teams fare slightly better through the air, gaining 127 passing yards per contest.

A WIN OVER THE BLACK KNIGHTS WOULD…
…be Cornell's first win against Army since 2010…give the Big Red a 4-0 start overall and a 3-0 start in CSFL play for the first time since 2010…keep Cornell atop the CSFL standings…

300
Against Princeton on Friday night, Terry Cullen was coaching his 300th game in charge of the Big Red. Cornell outscored the Tigers 20-0 in the first half and went on for a 22-15 victory in their head coach's 300th contest at the helm. Cullen has won a share of five CSFL championships since he became the team's head coach in 1977.

VERY SPECIAL
Kicker John Rodriguez was named the CSFL's Special Teams Player of the Week on Wednesday after he kicked two field goals against Princeton. His kicks from 48 yards and 25 yards out helped the Big Red to a 20-0 halftime lead. He was also perfect in two extra-point tries.

LAST WEEK
Cornell moved to 3-0 with a 22-15 victory against the visiting Princeton Tigers on Friday night. Cornell scored the game's first 20 points and earned a safety in the second half when Princeton snapped a punt attempt out of the end zone. The Tigers tried to rally and scored 15 points late, but Cornell held on for its 13th straight win over Princeton.

NEVERMORE
Cornell welcomed Franklin Pierce to sprint football with a 26-21 victory over the Ravens on Sept. 22. The game, held at a high school field in Massachusetts, was Franklin Pierce's first-ever football game. Charles Clausner was the hero, making the game-winning touchdown catch with just over two minutes to play. The defense then held firm, forcing a Ravens turnover on downs to end the contest.

OVERTIME THRILLER
Cornell's six-overtime victory against Penn was the longest game in program history and equaled the total number of overtimes the team had ever played to that point. The Big Red had previously only gone to overtime five times, with their first overtime game in 1996 going to double overtime. Cornell's other four extra-period games ended after the first overtime. The team is now 4-2 in overtime games.

LEAGUE RANKINGS
Through three games, Cornell sits third in the CSFL on offense with 345 yards per game. Defensively, the Big Red's 313 yards allowed per game is fourth in the conference.
Individually, Benjamin Herrara has cracked into the top five rushers in the league with his 150 yards on the season. Brendan Miller continues to be the second-most prolific quarterback with his 646 yards passing and five touchdowns. Receiver Abe Mellinger has the third-most receptions in the league with 15, and his 253 total yards are also third. Defensively, Michael Monahan and John Kelder are tied for second with 24 tackles. Riley Scott is one of seven players with a league-high two interceptions.

AROUND THE LEAGUE
In other CSFL games last weekend, Navy beat Post 37-14 to remain undefeated, while Army knocked off Mansfield 52-6. Penn also played a non-conference game against Franklin Pierce, winning 24-20.

OFFENSIVELY MINDED
Senior receiver Abe Mellinger was named the CSFL's Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 19 for his eight-catch, 102-yard performance against Penn. Mellinger is the first Cornell player to earn the honor since Doug Famularo did after week three of the 2010 season. Mellinger currently tops the CSFL with his eight catches.

NATIONAL APPEAL
The sprint football team has players from 18 different states on the roster, with New York and California having the highest representation. Twenty-eight players hail from the Empire State while the Golden State has 10 players on the Big Red roster. Just one player comes from Georgia, Hawaii, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Virginia and Washington.

UP NEXT
After a week on the road, Cornell returns home for its final three games of the season. The Big Red's next game will be against Navy on Oct. 12 at 7 p.m.
