ABOUT CORNELL
Cornell began the season with a 3-0 record, defeating Penn, Franklin Pierce and Princeton. But since then, the Big Red has lost three consecutive games and is under .500 in CSFL play. Friday night's game will give Cornell a chance to finish the year with a record above .500 for the first time since 2010, and the defense has been very good for the last few weeks. Cornell's offense, though, has not scored a touchdown in its last eight regulation quarters.

THE HEAD COACH
Coach Terry Cullen is now in his 47th season at the helm of the Big Red program with a 166-130-7 record (.559). Cullen has been a member of the coaching staff since 1964 and officially became the Terry Cullen Head Coach of Sprint Football in 2001.

THE CO-HEAD COACH
In August 2008, Cornell announced that Bart Guccia would assume a majority of the on-field coaching and gameday decisions for the Big Red. Guccia is now in his seventh year with the team and has posted a 19-13 record (.594) in his new role.

ABOUT MANSFIELD
The Mounties, who are from Mansfield, Pa., are 2-4 on the year and 1-4 in CSFL play. Their lone victory in conference came against Princeton, while their other victory was against non-league opponent Franklin Pierce. Mansfield's most recent game was that contest against Franklin Pierce which it won 32-14. That victory snapped a four-game losing streak to Army, Penn, Post and Navy. Friday night will be the final game of Mansfield's season. Mansfield began playing sprint football in 2008.

THE SERIES WITH MANSFIELD
Cornell and Mansfield's rivalry is about as lopsided as it gets. The teams have played twice in each of the last four years with Cornell claiming all eight contests. Last season ended with a 21-14 victory for the Big Red that saw it pull off a terrific defensive stand in the fourth quarter. The Mounties also came within eight points of the Big Red in 2010, but those are the only two games in the series the Big Red has not won by double digits.

SCOUTING THE MOUNTIES
Mansfield has the worst offense in the league, averaging just 177 yards per game. The Mounties have used three different quarterbacks this season with Ben Pepper getting the most time under center. He has 450 passing yards and four touchdowns to eight interceptions. Freshman running back John Brockington has the most yards on the ground for the Mounties – 199 – and receiver Casey Huff has 245 yards and four touchdown catches.
On defense, Mansfield is the league's third-worst team with 338 yards per game allowed. Anthony Colon is tied for the conference lead with four interceptions and leads the team with four sacks. Justin DiMatteo leads the team with 54 total tackles while Jake Myers and Mike Wang have 52 tackles each.

A WIN OVER THE MOUNTIES WOULD…
…give Cornell a 9-0 mark all-time against them…finish the season over .500 for the first time since 2010…be the seventh consecutive victory in a season finale for Cornell…give Cornell three CSFL victories for the fourth time in five years.

BEST FOR LAST
The Big Red is excellent in season finales and has won its last six games to close out a year. Cornell's most recent loss in a season finale came in 2005 to Army.

PICK ME!
Friday night will see a battle between two of the best secondary players in the league as Cornell junior Riley Scott goes up against Mansfield's Anthony Colon. The two are tied for the league lead with four interceptions.

BYE WEEK BLUES
In its last nine games following a bye week, Cornell is now 1-8 since 2001.

LAST TIME OUT
Cornell failed to score a touchdown and lost in overtime 13-6 to visiting Post on Friday. Cornell had a chance to win as time ticked off the clock, but John Rodriguez's 26-yard field goal attempt went wide left after he made two other field goals earlier in the game. In overtime, the Eagles got the ball first and scored a touchdown on a one-yard sneak. The Big Red was unable to counter and lost the game on downs.

ARMY LOSS
The Big Red came up against more than it could handle at Army on Oct. 5, falling by a 38-14 scoreline. Despite holding the Black Knights to their lowest point total of the year, the Big Red could not get its own offense going. The loss marred what had been an undefeated season.

300
Against Princeton on Sept. 28, Terry Cullen coached his 300th game in charge of the Big Red. Cornell outscored the Tigers 20-0 in the first half and went on for a 22-15 victory in their head coach's 300th contest at the helm. Cullen has won a share of five CSFL championships since he became the team's head coach in 1977.

NEVERMORE
Cornell welcomed Franklin Pierce to sprint football with a 26-21 victory over the Ravens on Sept. 22. The game, held at a high school field in Massachusetts, was Franklin Pierce's first-ever football game. Charles Clausner was the hero, making the game-winning touchdown catch with just over two minutes to play. The defense then held firm, forcing a Ravens turnover on downs to end the contest.

OVERTIME THRILLER
Cornell's six-overtime victory against Penn was the longest game in program history and equaled the total number of overtimes the team had ever played to that point. The Big Red had previously only gone to overtime five times, with their first overtime game in 1996 going to double overtime. Cornell's other four extra-period games ended after the first overtime. Cornell has now been to overtime twice this season and holds a lifetime record of 4-3 in games that go to extra periods.

LEAGUE RANKINGS
Cornell ranks fifth in the CSFL in offense with 267 yards per game. The Big Red has the sixth-best defense, coming in at 344 yards allowed per game. Brendan Miller continues to rank high in the offensive standings with the second-most passing yards in the league (1,204). He has also thrown seven touchdowns, tied for third in the CSFL. Michael Monahan's 55 tackles puts him in third place in the league, while Riley Scott is tied for first in the conference with four interceptions.

AROUND THE LEAGUE
Last week in CSFL action, Mansfield knocked off Franklin Pierce 32-14 and Navy handled Penn 44-10. The Midshipmen play Army on Friday in a battle of undefeated teams that will serve as a de facto CSFL title game.

VERY SPECIAL
Kicker John Rodriguez was named the CSFL's Special Teams Player of the Week on Oct. 3 after he kicked two field goals against Princeton. His kicks from 48 yards and 25 yards out helped the Big Red to a 20-0 halftime lead. He was also perfect in two extra-point tries.

OFFENSIVELY MINDED
Senior receiver Abe Mellinger was named the CSFL's Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 19 for his eight-catch, 102-yard performance against Penn. Mellinger is the first Cornell player to earn the honor since Doug Famularo did after week three of the 2010 season. Mellinger currently tops the CSFL with his eight catches.
