ITHACA, N.Y. -- Christine Clark led all scorers with 23 points as part of three double figure scorers from Harvard, who opened the second half on an 8-1 run to push past Cornell 67-57 on Friday evening at Newman Arena. Harvard improved to 10-8 (3-1 Ivy), while the Big Red slipped to 8-10 (2-2 Ivy).

Taylor Flynn scored a team-high 16 points for the Big Red off the bench, while Clare Fitzpatrick added 12 points and 10 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season. Shelby Lyman had eight points and Allyson DiMagno notched seven points, seven rebounds, three steals, three blocked shots and three assists in the loss.

Besides her 23 points, Clark added five steals and six rebounds for a Crimson team that dominated the backboards to the tune of a 45-33 advantage. Victoria Lippert added 15 points and Brogan Berry notched 12 points, six assists and five rebounds.

Cornell controlled the first half, leading by as many as six and never trailing in the final 17:28 of the half, but holding the ball with the shot clock off and leading by three points, the Big Red turned the ball over with Clark earning a steal, then going cost-to-coast for a layup. She was also fouled, with five seconds left. Clark hit the free throw, evening the game at 28-28 going into the break.

That momentum shift seemed to turn the tide of the game. The visitors hit 3-pointers on each of their first two possessions, one by Berry and the other assisted by her, to go up 34-28 just 1:34 into the second half. The run would eventually climb to 15-4, giving Harvard an 11-point lead with under 15 minutes remaining. Cornell got within one after a 3-pointer by Stephanie Long with 5:08 to play, but the Big Red had two turnovers, an airball and a shot blocked on its next four possessions as the road team extended the lead right back to six. Harvard hit 8-of-8 free throws in the final 1:29 to seal the win.

The Big Red played with a great sense of urgency in the first 20 minutes, answering every big Harvard shot with one of its own. Lyman scored all eight of her points for the Big Red in a span of three minutes early in the first half to show Cornell meant business, and great ball movement led to a layup by Fitzpatrick with just under four minutes to play in the half, giving the home team a 28-22 lead. Unfortunately for the Big Red, Harvard would hold them scoreless in the last segment of the half while tying the game.

Cornell will face Dartmouth tomorrow at 7 p.m. at Newman Arena.
