PRINCETON, N.J. – For the fifth time this season, Cornell freshman Matt Donovan has been named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week. Dating back to 1987 when the award made its debut, Donovan is the first player to earn five such honors. The Morristown, N.J. native was also named the conference's Rookie of the Week on March 5, March 26, April 2 and April 9.

Playing against one of the hottest goalies in the nation last weekend, Donovan put all six of his shots on goal and matched a career-high with four goals to lead the Big Red in its 14-9 loss to Princeton. The freshman attackman's first two goals of the game came in the opening moments of the second quarter as he helped Cornell to come back from an early three-goal deficit, cutting the Tigers' lead to 4-3. He also picked up three ground balls.

Donovan now leads the Big Red with 32 points on a team-high 14 assists to go along with 18 goals.

The Big Red is back in action on Friday, May 4 as it travels back to Princeton as the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Ivy League Tournament. Cornell will face No. 3 seed Yale at 5 p.m.
