ABOUT THE BIG RED
Cornell is still searching for its first Ivy League victory of 2013 and the first win since Sept. 27 at Buffalo. The Big Red picked up its first point in a 0-0 tie with Yale last weekend; the Bulldogs are just the third team to outshoot Cornell this season, as they posted a 16-10 edge in shots. Senior defenders Patrick Slogic and Jake Rinow lead the team with six points (2g, 2a), while fellow defender and classmate Jake Kirsch is tied with junior Conor Goepel with five points (2g, 1a). Goepel has the most shots on goal for Cornell so far this season with 35 (18 on goal).

HEAD COACH JARO ZAWISLAN
After taking over a program that was 1-15 the season before his appointment as head coach, Jaro Zawislan has steadily improved men's soccer at Cornell; transforming an eighth-place team into Ivy League Champions and coaching the Big Red to the program's best season in nearly two decades. Zawislan, a native of Poland, now holds a 39-21-20 record after the team's scoreless tie with Yale. He played soccer for four years at Clemson and then spent time professionally in the United States and Poland.

ABOUT BROWN
The Bears are also entering the weekend seeking their first Ivy League win of the season. Currently 0-1-2 against conference opponents, they sit just one point ahead of Cornell. Tariq Akeel and Jack Gorab are tied with a team-leading seven points on three goals and one assist. Senior keeper Josh Weiner is the team's primary option in net, racking up just over 1022 minutes through 11 games thus far. He has a 1.23 goals-against average and a .791 save percentage. In 2012, Brown finished with a 13-3-3 record (4-1-2 Ivy League) and was one of only two Ivy League teams able to crack Cornell's defensive line twice.

THE SERIES WITH BROWN
Dating back to 1949, the Bears have a commanding lead in the series between the teams at 36-19-5. Despite outshooting the Bears 15-10 in the team's meeting last season, Brown handed Cornell it's only regular-season loss in the form of a 2-0 shutout in Providence. Brown got on the board early in the fifth minute when Ben Maurey buried a rebound from a Bobby Belair shot and added an insurance tally in the 71st minute on a Cornell own goal.

BERMAN BLACKOUT
Saturday's game will be packed full of promotions and excitement for fans as part of the Berman Blackout promotion. The student gate will open at 3 p.m. and the first 400 students in attendance will receive a free Berman Blackout shirt, and those wearing the shirt at halftime will get free Firehouse subs. In addition, Z95 will be broadcasting live starting at 2:30 until halftime and have prizes and giveaways for the Berman crowd. The game is also a fundraiser for Go4TheGoal, a foundation benefiting pediatric cancer research.

QUITE THE COMEBACK
Junior goalkeeper Zach Zagorski made his first start since Sept. 21 on Saturday at Yale, after starting the first six games of the season for the Big Red. En route to holding the league-leading Bulldogs scoreless Zagorski made two stellar saves on a Nick Alers penalty kick attempt in the 82nd minute. The Big Red keeper read Alers' move and made a diving stop to his left, and when the rebound kicked right out to the crashing Yale forward, Zagorski quickly dove back to his right to smother a second attempt.

240:23
For the second time this season, the Big Red is currently experience a scoring slide that has spanned more than two games. Senior defender Jake Kirsch tallied the team's last goal on Oct. 12 in the 82nd minute of a heartbreaking 2-1 overtime loss to Harvard.

AROUND THE IVY LEAGUE
Penn – who has not allowed a goal in conference play this season – Princeton and Yale are now tied atop the league standings at 2-0-1 with seven points. The Big Red has the potential to leap-frog ahead of the Bears with a win on Saturday – as Brown sits just one point ahead of Cornell heading in to the weekend – and could move up as far as fifth if Dartmouth is able to upset Columbia at home.

BACK TO BACK TO BACK
The Big Red opened the 2013 season with three straight overtime games; the last time a Cornell men's soccer team played in three straight games needing more than 90 minutes was in September 2006 against Buffalo, Boston University and Columbia.

SENIOR LEADERSHIP
For the second season in a row the Big Red has three captains, as Jake Rinow, Patrick Slogic and Benjamin Williams have assumed the role for their senior seasons. Slogic is coming off a First Team All-Ivy season in 2012 and was named to the MAC Hermann watch list and as a contender for the Senior CLASS Award in the weeks prior to the 2013 season.

FRESH FACES
Cornell added 13 newcomers to the roster for the 2013 campaign, many of whom will challenge the veteran players for playing time throughout the year. Goalkeeper Evan King, midfielder Madison Heck and midfield/forward hybrid Sebastian Scales all come to East Hill from Eastside FC in Washington State.

AIN'T THAT AMERICA
Nearly all of the players on this season's roster hail from one of 12 states, as California, New York and Washington each claim claiming four players. The Big Red has three players from New Jersey, two from both Colorado and Indiana and one each from Arizona, Connecticut, Illinois, Kansas, Michigan and Nebraska. Freshman JJ Black hails from Cambridge, England.

UP NEXT
The Big Red will be on the road the next two weekend's before returning to Berman Field for its final conference game and Senior Day festivities. The first of the two road trips will be to Princeton for a 4 p.m. contest on Nov. 2.
