ITHACA, N.Y. — The much anticipated beginning of the Cornell hockey season will once again be highlighted by the Red-White Game, which will continue to feature both the men's and women's teams at 7 p.m. Saturday. The game is free to attend.
 
The Big Red men's team will be seeking its eighth trip to the NCAA tournament in the last 13 years, returning senior goaltender Andy Iles and four of its five leading scorers from last season – including captain John McCarron and Preseason Coaches All-ECAC Hockey Team defenseman Joakim Ryan. The women's squad currently holds down the No. 4 spot in the USCHO.com poll after winning the ECAC Hockey championship last season and making its fourth consecutive appearance in the NCAA tournament. The women's team will start its season with an exhibition against Brock at 7 p.m. Friday.
 
The format will include regular power-play situations and a shootout at the end of the contest. The men's teams and women's teams will rotate pairs of shifts, and kids from the Ithaca Youth Hockey Association mite division will play during the intermission.
 
The game coincides with Cornell Employee Celebration and is free to attend. Tickets for door prizes and a 50/50 will be available for purchase, with proceeds benefitting the Cornell Hockey Association and the support of the Big Red hockey programs. Players from both teams will also be available for a meet-and-greet session after the game in the hallway between Lynah Rink and Bartels Hall.
