ITHACA, N.Y. – The men's tennis team breezed past Buffalo, 7-0, on Sunday in its spring season home debut at Reis Tennis Center. The Big Red, ranked 73rd in the nation by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, took four of six singles matches in straight sets after sweeping the doubles portion of the match.

Junior Venkat Iyer won one of two three-set matches on the day, taking down a nationally ranked opponent. After dropping the first set in a tiebreaker, Iyer stormed back to win a tiebreaker in the second second before surging to a 6-2 win in the third against Vusa Hove, who is ranked 14th in the Northeast and 123rd in the country by the ITA.

Sophomores Sam Fleck (No. 2), Quoc-Daniel Nguyen (No. 4), Jason Luu (No. 5) and Kyle Berman (No. 6) all improved to 4-1 on the season in singles play. Alex Sidney also sailed to a win at No. 3 against Sebastian Ionescu, 6-1, 6-4.

Berman and Fleck stayed undefeated with their fourth win of the season at the No. 3 doubles position. The Big Red is now a perfect 24-0 against Buffalo in spring matches.
