MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The men's tennis team dropped a 4-1 decision to No. 47 Texas Tech in the semifinals of the Blue-Gray National Tennis Classic on Saturday. Sophomore
Jason Luu won his match at No. 5 singles for the Big Red, which will play top-seeded Notre Dame in Sunday's third-place match at 11 a.m. CDT.
Cornell (10-3), which entered the tournament ranked 29th in the nation by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, had its nine-match streak of winning the doubles point come to an end Saturday. The Aggies won the Nos. 1 and 2 doubles matches to secure the day's first point.
Luu won his match against Texas Tech's Francisco Zambon, 6-4, 6-1, to get the Big Red on the board and improve his record to 10-1 in singles matches during the dual season. But the Aggies won singles matches at the top three spots to cement its place Sunday's championship match.
