No. 51 Men’s Tennis Topped By No. 65 Yale, 4-3

ITHACA, N.Y. – Sophomores Sam Fleck and Jason Luu both won singles and doubles matches, but Yale rallied for a 4-3 victory Saturday at Reis Tennis Center.
 
After Yale (16-4, 2-1 Ivy League) won the No. 1 doubles match, Cornell (12-7, 1-3 Ivy) took the next two matches to take a 1-0 lead heading into singles play. Luu teamed with classmate Quoc-Daniel Nguyen for a 9-7 win at No. 2 doubles, then Fleck and sophomore Kyle Berman defeated Yale's Matt Saiontz and Martin Svenning by an identical score at No. 3.
 
Cornell, ranked 51st by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, then got a straight-set victrory from Fleck at No. 2 singles. Two of the six singles matches went to a third set, including Luu's 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 win over Jason Brown at the No. 5 spot to tie the score at 3. Yale, ranked 65th by the ITA, then won the No. 6 singles matches to secure the victory.
 
The Big Red is back in action at 2 p.m. Sunday against Brown. The match at Reis Tennis Center is free and open to the public.
