HANOVER, N.H. – The 48th-ranked men's tennis team won its first Ivy League match of the season Saturday, topping Dartmouth, 5-2. Sophomore Jason Luu paired with classmate Quoc-Daniel Nguyen to win a doubles match, then clinched the match with his 6-4, 6-4 victory over Erik Nordahl at the No. 4 singles position.
 
Cornell (12-5, 1-1 Ivy League) dropped the first doubles match of the day, but fought back to secure the opening point. Luu and Nguyen fought off Alex de Chatellus and Brendan Tannenbaum at No. 2, 9-7, then sophomores Kyle Berman and Sam Fleck gave the Big Red the 1-0 with another 9-7 win over Cameron Ghorbani and Christopher Kipouras at No. 3.
 
After Dartmouth (8-9, 0-1) won the No. 1 singles match, Nguyen put the Big Red back in front with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Brandon DeBot at No. 5. Fleck then pulled Cornell to within a point of clinching the match at No. 2, topping Kipouras, 6-2, 6-4.
 
The Big Green's second point turned the focus to the final two singles matches, which both worked out in the Big Red's favor. Luu locked up the match, then Alex Sidney wrapped up the tilt with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Ghorbani at No. 3.
 
Cornell wraps up its weekend trip with a 2 p.m. Sunday match at No. 18 Harvard.
