Box Score SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Collegiate Sprint Football League newcomer Franklin Pierce edged Cornell 13-6 in the ninth edition of the Adirondack Trust Allegiance Bowl at Saratoga High School on Saturday afternoon.

Cornell, now 0-2, scored first on a 22-yard John Rodriguez field goal to cap a 10-play, 37-yard drive with 6:50 remaining in the first quarter and take a 3-0 lead.

The Big Red maintained that lead until inside the final two minutes of the half when the teams traded turnovers to create a Franklin Pierce scoring opportunity in the closing seconds.

With 1:40 remaining in the half, the Ravens started with the ball on their own 46-yard line after a Cornell punt was partially blocked by Mike Abrams. Just two plays in to the drive, the Big Red's Nick Lussier forced a fumble which was recovered by teammate Ben Kroll at the Cornell 35.

On the ensuing drive for the Big Red, quarterback Brendan Miller was picked off by the Ravens' Connor Rogowsky. Rogowsky ran the ball 24 yards before being brought down at the Cornell 33-yard line with .34 seconds remaining in the half.

The clock read .18 seconds when Ryan O'Kelly completed a 10-yard touchdown pass to Jhalil Dean to give Franklin Pierce a 7-3 lead heading in to the half.

The Big Red would not recover.

Rodriguez converted another field goal attempt from 45 yards out with 8:24 to play in the third quarter to pull Cornell within a point at 7-6, but that would conclude the Big Red scoring for the afternoon.

O'Kelly found DJ MacDonald in the end zone with 3:06 to play in regulation to insure the victory for the Ravens.

Benjamin Herrera led Cornell in both rushing and receiving on Saturday, gaining 40 yards on 10 carries on the ground and adding three receptions for 57 yards.

The Big Red opens the home portion of its schedule on Friday Sept. 27, hosting Penn at 7 p.m. on Schoellkopf Field.
