ITHACA, N.Y. --Allyson DiMagno and Nia Marshall were unfazed by Winter Storm Hercules as the duo helped the Cornell women's basketball team to its largest victory since 2008 with an 81-46 win over Vermont on Thursday evening at Newman Arena. The Big Red evened its record at 6-6, while the Catamounts fell to 4-9.

DiMagno recorded her second double-double of the season and 23rd of her career with 21 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and three steals. Not to be outdone, Marshall tallied a career-high 17 points, nine rebounds, four assists, four steals and four blocked shots to lead a Big Red squad that held UVM to 33 percent shooting overall and a miserable 2-of-14 from beyond the 3-point arc (14 percent). Cornell forced 25 Vermont turnovers and had 14 steals and five blocks, while outrebounding the visitors 43-28.

While Vermont was as cold as the storm ripping up the East Coast, Cornell connected on 47 percent of its shots on the night as 10 different players scored. Shelby Lyman joined DiMagno and Marshall in double figures with 13 points and Aspen Chandler had eight. Stephanie Long chipped in seven points, five rebounds and three assists.

Vermont was led by Kaylea Britton's 13 points and Kayla Burchill's 12 off the bench. Kylie Butler had seven points, six rebounds and three assists in the loss.

After both teams missed layups on their first possessions of the contest, DiMagno hit the first bucket of the evening at the 18:32 mark as the Big Red led wire-to-wire. Cornell doubled-up the visitors, 18-9, midway through the first half when Marshall converted a traditional three-point play with 11:52 showing on the clock. Just over two minutes later, a pair of free throws from Lyman gave the home team a double-digit lead, which eventually ballooned to a 40-20 advantage with 1:49 to go in the first half.

UVM closed the first and opened the second half with an 8-2 run to make it a 15-point game (42-27) with 17:59 to play, but that would be as good as it would get as Cornell used a 9-2 run over the next five minutes to push its lead to 22 points (51-29). During the run, the Big Red got a layup from DiMagno, back-to-back jumpers from Marshall, and a trey from Lyman.

The teams traded baskets until nine unanswered points made it a 30-point advantage for the home team at 67-37 with just over six minutes to play. Sarah Poland started the run with a layup and Marshall chipped in three points, while DiMagno and Joelle Davidson added two points each.

Cornell took its largest lead of the game (35 points) on a jumper from Nicholle Aston and the teams traded points to the 81-46 final.
