CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Senior Stephanie Long registered a season-high 17 points to lead four Big Red women's basketball players in double-figures, but it wasn't enough as Ivy League leader Harvard managed to pull away for the 84-69 victory at Lavietes Pavilion. With the win, the Crimson improves to 17-5 overall and 7-1 in the Ivy League, while Cornell falls to 12-10 overall and 4-4 in the conference.

Senior forward Allyson DiMagno posted her fourth consecutive double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds to finish the weekend in sixth place in Cornell history with 1,242 career points and just 47 rebounds shy of the school's career record. Freshman forward Nia Marshall chipped in 14 points, five rebounds and one steal, and junior guard Christine Kline tallied 11 points, three steals and two assists in just 16 minutes of action. Freshman guard Kerri Moran added nine points, eight assists, and four steals.

Harvard was led by Jasmine Evans and Christine Clarke, who scored 21 and 20 points, respectively, while Temi Fagbenle (14) and Ali Curtis (10) finished in double-figures. Fagbenle also pulled down a team-high nine rebounds as the Crimson outrebounded Cornell, 43-33.

Both team shot the ball well, with the Crimson hitting 46 percent overall (29-63) and Cornell finishing at 40 percent (24-60) from the floor. Both teams knocked down 35 percent from 3-point range, with identical marks of 6-for-17.

The Big Red harassed Harvard into 21 turnovers with 11 steals, but turned the ball over 18 times, allowing the Crimson to score 22 points off turnovers.

Cornell's first points of the game came thanks to a long defensive rebound that was picked up by Long and kicked out to a streaking Marshall, who laid it in. Moments later, Long got to the rim as the shot clock expired to cut Harvard's lead to 6-4.

The Crimson pushed its lead to 11-4 with a layup from Fagbenle and a trey from Curtis, but the Big Red answered right back with a jumper from Long and a layup from Moran to make it three-point game (11-8).

Six consecutive points pushed the Harvard lead to nearly double-digits (17-8), but Long hit a trey from the top of the key and stopped the run. The teams then traded baskets before trading turnovers and then a Fagbenle layup was answered by a layup from Marshall to make it a 23-15 game with just under eight minutes to play in the half.

The Crimson pushed its lead to double-digits (25-15) on a shot by Evans but Long was clutch again and nailed a trey to give her 10 points in the half. Clarke answered for Harvard, but four straight points by DiMagno made it a 27-22 contest as the 2:54 mark.

A jumper by Erin McDonnell, followed by a layup from Fagbenle put Harvard back up by nine points and then Kit Metoyer hit a tremendously deep 3-pointer at the buzzer to send the home team into the locker room with the 36-26 advantage.

The Crimson opened the second half with six straight points to go up, 42-26, and eventually pushed its lead to 20 points (54-34) with just over 14 minutes to go in the game. The Big Red responded when a traditional three-point play by Marshall and two made free throws from Moran opened up a 10-4 Cornell scoring run to make it a 59-44 contest with 7:34 to play.

The Big Red continued to fight and got within 11 points (70-59) on a pair of made free throws by Long with 3:39 remaining in the game but Harvard outscored the visitors, 14-10, down the stretch to take the 84-69 victory.
