8-0 Opening Run Helps Lift Women's Lacrosse Over Binghamton, 15-4

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – An 8-0 opening run and seven different players finding the back of the net helped the Cornell women's lacrosse team to defeat Binghamton, 15-4, Tuesday night. The Big Red (4-1, 1-1 Ivy) was led on offense by Lindsay Toppe, who scored four goals.

Toppe had all four of her goals in that opening offensive frenzy before Binghamton could answer back. With 9:48 left in the first half, Callon Williams capitalized on a free-position shot to get the Bearcats on the board.

Other Big Red players who scored were Rachel Moody (3 goals, 1 assist), Amanda D'Amico (2g, 1a), Sarah Hefner (2g, 1a), Catherine Ellis (2g), Chelsea Rowe (1g), and Kailey O'Hagan (1g). Emily Tripodi recorded three assists and Claire MacManus and Brittany Marriott had one assist apiece.

Cornell outshot Binghamton 31-19 and won 15-of-21 draw controls.

Allie Rodgers, Brianne Arthur, Callon Williams and Renee Kiviat scored for Binghamton. Goaltenders Erin McNulty and Kara Pafumi combined for eight saves.

Renee Poullott and Carly Gniewek split time in the crease, each recording three saves. Poullott is 4-1 on the season.

The Big Red will travel to Albany on Sunday to take on the Great Danes at 2 p.m.
