ITHACA, N.Y. – Junior
Sam Fleck and freshman
Bernardo Casares Rosa won their respective singles matches, but the men's tennis team dropped a 4-2 decision to Princeton on Friday in a matchup of nationally-ranked teams.
Princeton, ranked 61st in the nation by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, took the early lead by winning the first two doubles matches to reach completion. Fleck then tied the match at 1 by winning the first singles match, dropping just five games across two sets at the No. 2 position. The Tigers then clinched the match with wins at Nos, 4, 5 and 1 – the latter of which required a third set.
Cornell (12-8, 2-4 Ivy), ranked 52nd, got its other point from Casares Rosa also via straight sets at No. 3. The No. 6 match was left incomplete with the match already decided.
The Big Red wraps up Ivy League play and the home portion of its schedule at 1 p.m. Sunday against Penn.
