Rachel Scherman later clinched the match with her four-set victory at the No. 2 position in the Big Red's 7-2 victory Sunday at Brown.
Reut Odinak (No. 6) and
Emma Uible (No. 4) swept their respective matches, helping seventh-ranked Cornell (3-1, 1-1) lock up its first Ivy League win of the young season.
Hannah Scherl (No. 9) won in four sets in the early going, then watched
Margaux Losty outlast her cousin, Brown's Isabel Scherl, in a five-set match against at the No. 3 position.
Sydney Francis (No. 8) won in four sets for the Big Red's fourth point before Scherman clinched the match before the final rotation — which features victories from Uible and
Nghi Nguyen (No. 7).
With the win, Cornell improves to 11-12 all-time against 11th-ranked Brown (2-3, 0-3). The Big Red concludes its road trip at noon Monday at Trinity (3-1), which is just ahead of Cornell in the national rankings at the No. 6 position.
