CORTLAND, N.Y. -- In just her second career meet, Big Red freshman
Kaitlin Green matched a school record on beam and Cornell was able to claim a dual meet win over Cortland on Saturday afternoon at Corey Gymnasium. Cornell's 192.275 was nearly three points better than Cortland's final team score of 189.300.
Green scored a 9.900 on beam, matching the same score put up by Melanie Standridge in 2011. As a team, Cornell's team score of 192.275 would have been the second-highest score posted a year ago and comes a week after setting a team record by hitting the 194 mark for the first time.
Cornell had individual winners on all four events and the all-around, and the team scores were good for first across the board as well.
Alicia Bair (9.725) took home first on vault, Green and
Elana Molotsky each scored 9.800 to claim bars crowns and
Lyanda Dudley won both floor (9.775) and the all-around (38.600) events.
The Big Red had its biggest separation from the Red Dragons on beam, as its 48.100 was more than a point and a half clear of Cortland thanks to the top four individuals on the apparatus. Cornell's bars score 48.275 was also a point higher than its opponent.
Cornell will attempt to keep its high-scoring start going when it visits Bridgeport on Sunday, Jan. 31 at 2 p.m.
