ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell men's polo team ran its season record to 4-0 with a 23-7 win over Skidmore on Sunday afternoon in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
In its first competition in two weeks, Cornell started Ignacio and
Lorenzo Masias alongside
Dan Shaw. The Big Red jumped to a 7-0 lead and finished the first chukker ahead 7-1.
Ignacio Masias gave way to
Liam Palacios for the rest of the match and Cornell increased its lead to 12-2 by the half.
The Thoroughbreds regrouped at the half and came back to win the third 5-4, but still trailed heading to the fourth 16-7. Cornell adjusted after the third and shut out the Thoroughbreds 7-0 in the final chukker to take home the victory 23-7.
Lorenzo Masias led all scorers with 16 goals, Shaw and
Ignacio Masias each added three goals and Palacios got one.
Cornell opens its home schedule on Friday, Nov. 4 when Skidmore visits Oxley Equestrian Center for a 7:30 p.m. match.
