PHILADELPHIA — Five of six singles matches went to three sets, but the men's tennis team came up short in a 5-1 loss to Princeton on Sunday in the finals of the ECAC Indoor Championships at Penn's Hecht Tennis Center.
Junior
Colin Sinclair accounted for the Big Red's lone point, winning 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 at the No. 2 position in singles. Princeton (8-2) started the day by winning two doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead, then it won the No. 1 singles match in straight sets to go up 2-0.
Every other match went to a third set, with second-seeded and 45th-ranked Princeton's first ECAC title since 2008 clinched at the No. 3 position. Cornell (3-6), which entered the weekend as the fourth seed and ranked 60th in the nation, was in its first ECAC final since 2013 — when it swept Columbia to take the title.
Cornell returns to action at noon Saturday when it visits 47th-ranked Penn State.
