Julie Farlow picked up her first collegiate win with a walk-off against Georgetown, part of a Saturday afternoon split at the George Mason Cherry Blossom Classic. The Big Red won the opener agains the Hoyas 6-5 before dropping a 13-0, five-inning no-hitter to Saint Francis (Pa.).
Farlow, who spent 13 years as an assistant and associate head coach before taking over the program this fall, watched the Hoyas nearly steal away the game late with five runs in the final two innings after taking a 3-0 lead in the first. Senior
Meg Parker made sure to deliver the two-out magic with a two-run, bases-loaded single that scored the game-tying and winning runs. She had a total of four RBI, driving in one in the first and sixth as well and ended the day 4-for-4 with a walk.
Megan Murray also had a perfect game one at the plate with a 3-for-3 day with a walk as Cornell posted a season-high 13 hits.
Taylor Goodin had a pair of his as well.
Maddie Orcutt picked up the win after
Sierra Stone had a solid outing in the circle, scattering five hits and three runs.
Saint Francis (Pa.) completed a five-game season sweep in a downpour, scoring its 13 runs on just eight hits and 12 walks. K DeVries posted the truncated no-hitter, issuing one walk in her five-inning complete game.
The remainder of Cornell's weekend schedule has been cancelled due to expected rain on Sunday.
