ITHACA, N.Y. — The men's tennis team defeated Harvard by a 4-1 score for a second time this season, serving as the Big Red's first Ivy League victory of the year on Saturday at Reis Tennis Center.
Cornell (8-9, 1-1) started off by securing the doubles point. The Big Red's top two pairings switched positions for the first time since mid-February with favorable results.
Freshman
Karlo Lozic then won in straight sets from the No. 6 position. Senior
Stefan Vinti (No. 5) and junior
Colin Sinclair (No. 2) each extended their personal winning streaks to four matches, and the Big Red clinched the match with two singles matches still in action.
The Big Red is now 13-63 all-time against Harvard, but five of those victories have now come in the last 10 meetings with the Crimson. The most recent came in the semifinals of the ECAC Indoor Championships in February, when Cornell upset top-seeded Harvard in the semifinals.
The Big Red hosts another Ivy League match at 1 p.m. Sunday against Dartmouth at Reis Tennis Center. The match is free to attend and open to the public.
