QUICK HITS
• The Big Red wrestling team will attempt to close in on a 16th straight Ivy title and knock off another nationally ranked team this weekend when Cornell hosts Columbia on Saturday before visiting No. 23 Lock Haven on Sunday.
• Cornell will meet the Lions at 1 p.m. at the Friedman Wrestling Center, then packs up to wrestle at Thomas Fieldhouse in Lock Haven, Pa. at 1 p.m. the following afternoon.
• Live video of Saturday's dual will be available on the Ivy League Network, while Sunday's dual can be accessed on YouTube.
• Cornell brings an amazing 80-match Ivy League win streak into the weekend, and its 15 consecutive Ivy titles is already the longest streak in any sport in conference history.
• Since the Friedman Wrestling Center opened in January 2003, Cornell is 36-0 against Ivy League opponents in the facility and 43-1 overall against EIWA foes.
• Dating back to the 2004-05 season, Cornell is 88-0 against EIWA opponents not named Lehigh (100-4-1 vs. all).
• Cornell is ranked 10th nationally in the latest USA Today/NWCA Division I Wrestling Coaches Poll and is 7-2 this season in dual meet competition, including wins over nationally ranked Lehigh, Minnesota and Northern Iowa.
• Four Big Red wrestlers are among the nation's top 20 at their weight class in the latest Intermat rankings.
• Freshmen Ben Darmstadt (No. 3 at 197) and Yianni Diakomihalis (No. 4 at 141) lead the way and are considered national championship contenders.
• Classmate Max Dean (No. 11 at 184) is also in All-America range, while Jon Jay Chavez is 18th at 165.
• Four other wrestlers, Will Koll (as high as No. 19 at 149), Fredy Stroker (as high as No. 15 at 157), reigning All-American Brandon Womack (as high as No. 14 at 174) and Jeramy Sweany (as high as No. 24 at 285) are also currently ranked, while Michael Russo at 125, Chaz Tucker at 133 and Ben Honis at 197 and 285, have also been listed among the top 25 during the season.
 
HEAD COACH ROB KOLL
• Cornell head coach Rob Koll is in his 25th season at Cornell (287-91-5, .756; 113-8-1 Ivy, .930).
• Koll is the David R. Dunlop '59 Head Coach of Wrestling at Cornell.
• The all-time winningest wrestling coach in program history, Koll has guided the Big Red to 15 straight Ivy League titles (18 overall), 11 consecutive EIWA crowns and eight top five NCAA team finishes, including second twice (2010, 2011).
• He was the 2005 NWCA Division I Coach of the Year and the Dan Gable Coach of the Year.
• His wrestlers have won 14 national titles with 59 All-Americans and 59 individual EIWA champions.

ABOUT COLUMBIA
• The Lions are 3-9 on the season a win over EIWA opponent Bucknell.
• A pair of Lions are nationally ranked heading into the weekend, with 157-pounder Markus Scheidel sitting No. 13 at 11-1 overall and heavyweight Garrett Ryan at No. 16 with a 22-4 mark.
• Jacob Macalolooy (15-9) and Tyrel White (17-8) are also All-Ivy League contenders entering their first conference meet of the year.
• The Lions nearly upset Cornell's Sunday opponent, nationally-ranked Lock Haven, in its last outing before falling 21-19.
• Head coach Zach Tanelli, in his second season directing the Lions' program, guided Ryan to an EIWA title last spring, the first by a Columbia wrestler since 2013.

CORNELL-COLUMBIA SERIES
• Cornell leads the all-time series 89-13 dating back to the 1907-08 season when the teams first met.
• The Big Red has won 31 consecutive dual meets against the Lions.
• Columbia's last win over the Big Red came in a 20-19 Lions victory in Ithaca during the 1985-86 campaign.

LAST TIME VS. COLUMBIA
• Cornell senior Gabe Dean became the school's career leader in bonus point wins with a first-minute fall as the ninth-ranked Big Red dominated the second half of the meet in a 34-9 win over Columbia on Feb. 4, 2017 at University Gymnasium.
• Dean earned the fall over Jacob Young just 38 seconds into his match to collect his 94th bonus point victory, surpassing four-time All-American Cam Simaz (93).
• Dean's continued dominance overshadowed an early Big Red deficit, as Columbia led 9-3 after three matches.
• Cornell answered in a big way - seven consecutive wins to cruise to the victory.
• Noah Baughman opened the match with a hard-fought 4-0 win over Johnson Mai at 125, but the Lions responded with a fall at 133 and a third period tilt that allowed for a Columbia decision at 141.
• Jonathan Furnas got Cornell back within 9-6 with a 5-1 victory over Sam Ward, and Taylor Simaz put the visitors in the lead for good with a first period fall over Tyler Oberg at 157.
• Senior Brian Realbuto's pin at 174 put the Big Red on the verge of winning, then Dean's fall put Cornell over the top for the program's 74th straight win over an unranked opponent.
• The nationally-ranked Big Red also scored bonus points from Jake Anderson at 197, an 11-2 winner over Michael Bulkin.
• Two of the more exciting matches of the night came at 165 and 285, with Cornell coming out on top in both.
• Brandon Womack gained a takedown in the final 10 seconds to knock off Tyrel White, 3-1, and Craig Scott's third period reversal after Garrett Ryan tied the match with a takedown ended with a 6-2 Big Red victory.

ABOUT LOCK HAVEN
• Lock Haven, ranked 23rd nationally entering duals this week against Edinboro on Thursday and Cleveland State on Saturday, are 10-2 on the season.
• The Bald Eagles split a pair of road matches last weekend, falling to EWL foe Rider 22-12 before rallying to knock off Columbia, 22-19.
• Three wrestlers are nationally ranked this week, including NCAA championship contender Chance Marstellar (No. 4 at 165, 32-1 on the season).
• Additionally, Ronnie Perry (No. 16 at 149, 22-3)) and Thomas Haines (No. 13 at 285, 13-4) are among several other NCAA contenders in the lineup.
• Head coach Scott Moore, in his fifth season coaching Lock Haven, coached four wrestlers to NCAAs last spring and 13 overall in his first four years and has posted a 37-41 dual meet record entering the week.

CORNELL-LOCK HAVEN SERIES
• Cornell leads the all-time series 10-4-1 in a series that dates back to the 1951-52 season.
• Lock Haven won that first meeting, 17-15, in Pennsylvania.
• The Big Red has won the last four duals between the teams, a 25-9 decision during the 1998-99 season, a 26-12 triumph in 2005-06, a 22-13triumph in 2014-15 and last year's 31-15 triumph.
• Nine of the 14 meetings came between 1990-99, with the Big Red going 5-2-1.

LAST TIME VS. LOCK HAVEN
• Cornell's 70-match win streak against unranked opponents looked to be in jeopardy for a moment, but the Big Red finished strong to top Lock Haven 31-15 on Jan. 22, 2017 at the Friedman Wrestling Center.
• The Big Red led just 16-15 heading into the final three matches, but Cornell eased out by winning each to extend the streak further.
• Taylor Simaz used relentless pressure and an unending motor to force a disqualification at 157, drawing five stall calls to pick up six big team points with the stallout in the third period.
• Sophomore Brandon Womack controlled his 165-pound match over Jared Siegrist in an 8-2 win, then Brian Realbuto put the capper on.
• He used two violent throws in the first minute to pick up back points, with the second resulting in a 51-second fall over Adam Mackie at 174.
• His classmate Gabe Dean didn't need much more time than that, picking up a 96-second pin of Gavin Caprio after the blind draw started the dual at 184.
• Noah Baughman earned the third win by fall for the Big Red on the day with his pin early in the third that gave Cornell a lead back after Lock Haven won two straight after Dean's win to take a 9-6 edge.

LAST TIME OUT
• The Cornell wrestling team extended its win streak over Ivy League teams to 80 contests spanning 16 years with a sweep Jan. 27, topping Brown 27-9 and Harvard 35-3 at Friedman Wrestling Center.
• The Big Red opened big early leads and earned six bonus point victories in sweeping the afternoon.
• Cornell won its first four matches in both duals and was never threatened, with all four losses on the day coming by regular decision.
• Noah Baughman (125), Chaz Tucker (133), Yianni Diakomihalis (141), Will Koll (149), Max Dean (184) and Ben Darmstadt (197) each won both matches on the day, while all 10 grapplers picked up at least one win on the day.
• Diakomihalis and Darmstadt were bonus point machines, with each picking up a first period fall and a technical fall.
• The third nationally ranked freshman had a pair of strong efforts, defeating Brown NCAA qualifier CJ LaFragola 5-0 and topping his cousin, Harvard's Kanon Dean, by a 3-0 final.
• Cornell improved to 36-0 all-time against Ivy League foes at the Friedman Wrestling Center and captured the 21st straight win over Brown and the 17th in a row vs.  Harvard.





THE STREAKS
• Cornell has won 11 consecutive EIWA team titles, the longest streak in conference history.
• The Big Red has crowned at least one EIWA champion in each of the last 16 seasons and in 26 of the last 27 years.
• The Big Red is 61-1 (.984) in its last 62 duals against current EIWA competitors dating back to 2010-11.
• Cornell is 100-4-1 (.957) in dual meet action against current EIWA teams dating back to 2004-05, including 88-0 against teams other than Lehigh.
• Head coach Rob Koll's teams have racked up 15 Ivy League titles in a row, the longest title streak in any sport in conference history.
• Cornell has won 80 consecutive Ivy League dual meets dating back to the 2001-02 campaign.
• Cornell is 113-24-1 (.822) in dual meet competition in the last eight seasons.
• The Big Red is 46-6 (.885) in its last 52 home duals dating back to the 2009-10 season.

• Cornell has won 34 straight meets against New York state opponents.
• The Big Red has claimed a record six consecutive New York State team titles.

TEAM NOTES TO KNOW
• The Big Red holds a 34-match win streak against teams from New York dating back to 2004, including 18 consecutive at home.
• The Big Red is 257-81-3 all-time against teams from New York state in its history — Army (11-17-1), Binghamton (7-0), Brooklyn Poly (2-0), Buffalo (8-4), Clarkson (2-0), Colgate (29-2), Columbia (89-13), Cortland (17-1), Geneseo (1-0), Hofstra (19-4), Ithaca (12-3), Long Island (1-0), Manhattan (1-0), NYU (2-0), Queens (1-0), RPI (2-0), RIT (7-0-1), St. Lawrence (0-1), Syracuse (42-35-1), Union (2-1) and Wagner (2-0).
• Cornell registered its sixth consecutive New York state intercollegiate title in 2017-18, surpassing Buffalo's run from 1974-78 as the longest in tournament history.

• Every four-year member of the Cornell wrestling team who has enrolled since 1980 has won at least one Ivy League title during their career.
• Since the Friedman Wrestling Center opened in January of 2003, the Big Red is 71-14-1 in dual matches (.831) there.
• Head coach Rob Koll became the ninth Big Red coach in any sport to reach 250 career victories with a sweep at the Grapple at the Garden in 2014 and now sports a 287-91-5 record in dual meets.
• The Big Red's coaching staff has combined for 15 All-America accolades and five individual NCAA titles as collegiate athletes.
