O'Neill, Mills and Derraugh Sweep Major Ivy League Awards

PRINCETON, N.J. – After a regular season in which it claimed the program's 14th Ivy League title, the women's hockey team also swept the Ivy League women's hockey awards as sophomore Kristin O'Neill was named the Ivy League Player of the year, freshman Maddie Mills was tabbed as the Rookie the Year and head coach Doug Derraugh was named the Coach of the Year, as announced Thursday by the league office. Additionally, Cornell placed several players on the All-Ivy teams.
 
O'Neill finished the regular season as Cornell's leading scorer with 38 points from 19 goals and 19 assists. She ranked second in the Ivy League in points (4-9-13) and tied for second in assists and power play goals (2). The sophomore was also the only player to score a short-handed goal against other Ancient Eight rivals.
 
Mills, the unanimous Rookie of the Year pick, tied for first amongst other league rookies in scoring with 11 points from seven goals and four assists – a point total that tied for fifth overall. Her three power play goals was the most in the conference while her goal total was second and her two game winners were tied for second.

This is the eighth time that Cornell has swept the Ivy League Player and Rookie of the Year awards, the eighth time in the past nine years that a Cornell player has taken home Player of the Year and the ninth time in 11 years that a Cornell player has won Rookie of the Year.

Derraugh earned his second Ivy League Coach of the Year honor, by unanimous decision, after leading the Big Red to an 8-1-1 record in Ivy play and the team's second consecutive Ivy League title.
 
In addition to sweeping the major awards, Cornell was also well-represented on the All-Ivy teams. A remarkable five Cornellians were designated with First Team All-Ivy honors while also having one representative earn Honorable Mention All-Ivy nods. O'Neill, Mills, Sarah Knee, Jaime Bourbonnais and Marlene Boissonnault were all named to the First Team while Lenka Serdar notched Honorable Mention accolades.
 
Knee tied for eighth overall in point scoring (10) from two goals and eight assists. Her point tally was the second most amongst defensemen while her assist count was ranked tied for fourth.
 
Bourbonnais accumulated the fifth-highest point total amongst fellow defensemen with seven points (1G, 6A). Her four assists on the power play is tied for fourth in power play points in the Ivy League while her six assists checks in at No. 9.
 
Boissonnault went undefeated against league rivals this season, securing a record of 8-0-1 for the best win percentage (.944). Her goals against average (.91) also topped the league while her save percentage of .949 was second.
 
Serdar was credited with seven assists in conference play to rank 15th overall in points and tie for sixth in assists. Over the course of the year, the junior racked up three goals, 12 assists and 16 blocks for the Big Red.
 
Cornell's six All-Ivy selections are the most in the league.
