ITHACA, N.Y. – The men's squash team wraps up the non-league portion of its regular season this weekend, first visiting Franklin & Marshall at 4 p.m. Saturday in Lancaster, Pennsylvania before shifting a little further south to challenge Navy at noon Sunday in Annapolis, Maryland.
The match against the Diplomats will be streamed by F&M through Stretch Internet.
Cornell (2-7) is tabbed No. 16 in the Dunlop College Squash Rankings, but figures to move up in the next update after its 5-4 victory over ninth-ranked Drexel last Friday. The Big Red nearly followed that up with another upset, but 12th-ranked Western Ontario held on for a 5-4 win over Cornell the following afternoon at Belkin International Squash Courts.
Freshman Nicholas Göth Errington is on a tear with four straight victories, including a five-game triumph Wednesday to account for the Big Red's lone point in a loss to perennial national contender Trinity. Göth Errington's 5-4 record leave him in a tie for the team lead in victories with sophomore
Yohann Surti, who sports a 5-3 mark from the No. 9 position. Senior
Andy Muran and freshman
Charles Culhane are both 3-6 from the top two spots, and
V. Luke Park II – who clinched the win against Drexel – also has three victories from the No. 7 position.
Franklin & Marshall is ranked 17th with a 7-3 record entering its busy four-match home weekend. Before taking on the Big Red, the Diplomats host Colby on Friday and Virginina on Saturday morning. Aryan Parekh (8-1) and Matthew Dukarm (8-2) have been very successful from the middle of the order, tied for the team lead in victories with No. 2 Sanjay Jeeva (8-2). Shams Abbas is 3-4 from the top spot. Cornell holds a 27-23 lead in the all-time series, including 5-4 victories in each of the last two seasons.
Navy (12-2) is ranked 13
th after rallying to defeat 19th-ranked Williams last Saturday. It was the fourth time this season the Midshipmen won a match by a 5-4 margin. Jack Lentz is 11-2 from the top spot in the order, and Michael Kacergis is 12-1 from positons 2 through 4. Cornell is 16-13 against Navy after winning the regular-season match, 6-3, last year — but the Mids retaliated with a 5-4 win over the Big Red in the seventh-place match of the season-ending Hoehn Cup.
