ITHACA, N.Y. -- Here are some notes from Saturday's 14-8 loss to Georgetown.

Schoellkopf Field Notes

  • The contest was the 500th all-time for the Big Red on Schoellkopf Field.
  • Cornell now has a 296-189-5 (.597) mark since the stadium opened in 1915.
  • The Big Red is now 37-33-2 all-time on Homecoming.

The Defense

  • The 301 yards Georgetown posted is the lowest by a winning opponent since Columbia compiled 235 at Columbia in 2018 ... and the second straight week Cornell's winning opponent had less that 325 yards.
  • Over the last four contests dating back to last year, the Cornell defense has surrendered just five offensive touchdowns, 274.5 yards per game and 101.5 rushing yards on 2.6 yards per carry (154-406).
  • Freshman linebacker Jake Stebbins became the first Big Red freshman to register double figure tackles in a game since Tim Bax notched 10 in a 21-10 win at Dartmouth on Nov. 5, 2005..
  • Senior Michael Gillooley made his first start against Georgetown and posted five tackles and his first career sack.
  • Eight different players combined for the team's seven tackles for loss, with no player in on more than one.
  • Senior linebacker Mo Bradford had his second career interception.
  • Cornell has allowed 350 yards or fewer in four straight games for the first time since 2017 (Colgate 270, Harvard 223, Bucknell 306, Brown 161).

The Offense

  • Seven different receivers combined to catch 15 passes.
  • SK Howard got his first carries of the season, running for 23 yards on four carries.
  • The offensive line surrendered a pair of sacks, the first time allowing more than one sack since giving up three in the 2019 finale at Columbia.
  • Eric Gallman has a reception in all 13 career games.
  • Senior Owen Peters had three catches for 30 yards, upping his career totals to 71 catches for 864 yards.

Special Teams

  • Senior Nickolas Null punted eight times for a 42.9 yard average, the most punts by a Big Red punter in a game since Koby Kiefer kicked nine times in last season's win over Harvard.
  • Senior David Jones has upped his career kick return yardage total to 988 yards, just short of becoming the 11th Big Red player to reach 1,000 yards.
  • Senior place-kicker Zach Mays made his first appearance of 2019, averaging 64.5 yards on two kickoffs with one touchback.

Two-Point Conversion Info

  • Delonte Harrell ran for a two-point conversion in the third quarter, the Big Red's first successful try since Dalton Banks hit Hayes Nolte with a pass late in an 18-8 loss to Columbia on Nov. 11, 2017.
  • It was the first two-point run by a Cornell player since Luke Siwula reached the end zone against Princeton on Oct. 29, 2005.

Climbing The Charts

  • Senior running back Harold Coles became the 27th player in school history to reach 2,000 all-purpose yards with his 70 total yards against the Hoyas (2,065 yards, No. 25 all-time).
  • Coles moved into 14th place on the school's career rushing list (1,566 yards), surpassing both Bill Wilson '66 (1,522) and Dan Malone '75 (1,547). Next up is Jeff Fleischman '51 (1,573).
  • His third quarter rushing touchdown was his 12th career TD on the ground and 15th overall.
  • With a pass breakup, senior corner David Jones is now 11th in school history in passes defended with 23 and need one more to jump into the top 10.
