Friday Night Redux:

•  The Big Red flipped the switch on the nation's leader in first-period scoring, getting a pair of its own goals in the opening 20 minutes to power a 3-1 victory on Friday night at rival Harvard.
•  Jeff Malott opened the scoring on Cornell's 10th shot on goal just 5:18 into the game, then Brenden Locke scored his fifth goal of the season to double the lead just before the first intermission.
•  Travis Mitchell assisted on Malott's goal, then scored one of his own 5:07 into the second to give Cornell a 3-0 lead and up the Big Red's advantage in shots on goal to a gaudy margin of 22-4.
•  Harvard got its lone goal on the power play, then carried momentum for the rest of the second period. Matthew Galajda ultimately made 15 of his 23 saves on the night in a scoreless third period.
•  Mitchell and Jack Malone, who picked up a pair of primary assists, each recorded their first collegiate multi-point efforts.
•  It was the ninth straight game in which Cornell scored first and never trailed.
•  The victory pushed Cornell to 10-0 overall, 7-0 in ECAC Hockey, which is good for sole possession of first place with 14 points, and 4-0 in Ivy League play.
•  Locke's goal gives him four strikes in the last five games, and it pushes his scoring streak to five straight contests.

Scouting Dartmouth:

•  The Big Green exited a two-week hiatus for final exams last night, falling to visiting Colgate, 5-1. The loss pulled the team back to .500 with a 3-3-1 record overall and a 3-2-1 mark in ECAC Hockey play.
•  In its most recent action before that, Dartmouth recorded road victories against Yale (4-3 on Nov. 15) and Brown (4-1 on Nov. 16).
•  Sophomore forward Drew O'Connor (4-6–10) leads the team in scoring, having scored the Big Green's lone goal last night on the power play. He also led the team with 17 goals last season.
•  O'Connor typically plays on the left wing of a line with senior Will Graber (4-2–6) at center and junior Quin Foreman (2-5–7) on the opposite wing. The trio ranked 1-2-3 in team scoring last year.
•  Senior Adrian Clark (3-2-1, 2.76, .901) has started six of the team's seven games in goal after starting 32 of 34 with six shutouts last year.
•  Few statistical trends have emerged, but Dartmouth has drawn just 19 power plays through just six games for a nation-low average of 2.71 per game.
•  Bob Gaudet is in his 23rd season as the head coach at his alma mater after a stint at Brown's helm.

The Series Against Dartmouth:

•  Cornell and Dartmouth have met on 138 occasions since 1909, with the Big Red holding a wide margin in the series with a 83-49-6 advantage.
•  The Big Green won, 3-2, the last time the teams met in Hanover on Nov. 30, 2018. Jeff Malott celebrated his return to the lineup by helping set up Cornell's first strike before scoring the game-tying goal with a tip-in. Joe Leahy's first two collegiate points were primary assists on the goals.
•  Cornell got its revenge in the rematch at Lynah Rink seven weeks later, scoring four unanswered goals in the final 30 minutes for a 5-1 victory. Cam Donaldson had a goal and an assist, and Austin McGrath made 22 saves to earn the win.
