Will Simoneit was hit by a pitch and sophomore
Ramon Garza pulled a one-out single into left field. But two of nine strikeouts induced by Bears starter Hayden Kettler followed, and Baylor poured it on from there.
Sophomore
Jason Apostle had one of the Big Red's four singles, plus the team's only walk and a stolen base. After stealing second, he advanced to third on a wild pitch in the seventh inning to become Cornell's only batter to reach third.
Simoneit singled in the first and sophomore
Nicholas Binnie's first collegiate hit came in the fifth inning for the Big Red. Sophomore
Seth Urbon took the loos with six runs surrendered in three innings of work. Freshmen
Luke Yacinich and
Kevin Cushing pitched the next four frames before senior
Austin Arnold tossed the eighth.
