ITHACA, N.Y. –
Doug Derraugh, the head coach of the Cornell women's hockey team, was named a finalist for the ECAC Hockey Coach of the Year Award, the league announced this afternoon. Derraugh joins Colgate's Greg Fargo and Princeton's Cara Morey as the two other finalists. The winner will be announced at the 2019 Women's Hockey Championship Banquet on Friday, March 8.
Derraugh led the Big Red to its first regular season ECAC Hockey title since 2013, as Cornell finished conference play with a mark of 17-3-2. The Big Red concluded the regular season with an overall mark of 20-3-6, marking the program's third consecutive 20-win season.
Cornell is currently ranked fourth in the nation in both the USCHO.com and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine polls.
The 14th year head coach is a three-time recipient of the award, having won in 2011, 2013 and 2017.
Cornell takes on Rensselaer this weekend in a best of three series at Lynah Rink. The first game will be at 6 p.m. on Friday and game two will be played at 3 p.m. on Saturday. If necessary, the final game of the series will be played at 3 p.m. on Sunday.
