WEST CHESTER, Pa. -- West Chester rallied from a deficit heading into the fourth and final rotation to pick up a 193.300-193.125 dual meet win over Cornell on Saturday afternoon at the Sturzebecker Health Science Center. The Big Red claimed two individual and two team event wins, but the Rams ; 49..075 score on floor to cap the meet pulled them ahead in the end. Freshman
Donna Webster was the meet's top finisher on both vault and bars to lead the Big Red.
Webster led a 1-3-4-5 finish on bars with her 9.800, tying West Chester's Myranda Marshall for first.
Lyanda Dudley (9.775),
Christina Luniewicz (9.750) and
Kelsy Kurfirst (9.700) also registered scores of 9.700 or better to put the Big Red into the lead after two events, including a successful afternoon on vault that included another win for Webster (9.775) and a runner-up finish for
Maci Prescott (9.725).
Izzy Herczeg was second on floor with a 9.900, just .025 off the school record and behind only the Rams' Jessica Meakim, who it the 9.925.
Kaitlin Green was the top finisher on beam in third with a 9.725, just ahead of
Miranda Lund (9.725) and Dudley (9.675).
Cornell will be right back in action when it hosts Rutgers on Sunday, March 17 at 1 p.m. at Newman Arena. The meet will be the first-ever regular season gymnastics meet at Newman Arena, which will also host the 2019 ECAC Championship next weekend. It will also serve as the team's "Strength Beyond Muscles" meet to highlight student-athlete mental health awareness, part of the Green Game series started by Cornell's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
