ITHACA, N.Y. --
Claire Haklik and (floor) and
Donna Webster (vault) tied individual school records as Cornell competed in its first-ever dual meet at Newman Arena in a 194.825-193.000 loss to Rutgers on Sunday afternoon. The Big Red will be back in Newman Arena for the ECAC Championship next weekend.
Haklik's 9.925 on floor topped the field, as did Webster's 9.900 vault.
Kaitlin Green's 9.875 on beam was just .025 off the school record that she already shares with
Melanie Standridge.
Rutgers picked up the lead in the first rotation and never surrendered it, but the Big Red had a number of outstanding individual efforts and a big-time 49.000 score on floor to close the meet and hit the 193.000 mark for the sixth time in seven meets. That surpassed the Scarlet Knights' 48.950 for an event win for the Big Red.
Evelyn Patient led Cornell on bars with a 9.700, good for third overall, while Green was second on beam with
Izzy Herczeg a close third with a 9.800.
Cornell will host the 2019 ECAC Championship on Saturday, March 23 at 12 p.m. at Newman Arena.
