ITHACA, N.Y. – For the second time this season,
Clarke Petterson has been named the Ivy League Player of the Week, as was announced this afternoon by the conference office. The award is the fourth of the season for the Big Red men's lacrosse team, and is the fourth conference honor of Petterson's career, as he was named Rookie of the Week twice during the 2016 season. Petterson shares the honor this week with Yale's TD Ierlan.
A senior attackman from Toronto, Petterson was outstanding on Saturday vs. Harvard, scoring five goals on just five shots, including the 100th tally of his career. He also chipped in two assists for a seven-point day to go along with one ground ball and one caused turnover.
With the game vs. the Crimson tied at 3-3 late in the first quarter, Petterson had a hand each of the Big Red's next three goals as Cornell built a lead it would not relinquish en route to a 19-11 victory.
Petterson enters the week leading the nation in shooting percentage (.673) and ranks fourth overall in goals per game (3.5) and 17th overall in points per game (4.6).
Petterson and the Big Red are back in action when it heads to No. 13 Syracuse to take on the Orange in the Carrier Dome at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April, 9. The game will be nationally broadcast on ESPNU.
