ITHACA, N.Y. - The Cornell men's tennis team will open its dual season on Saturday, Jan. 25, hosting Binghamton for a 1 p.m. match in the Reis Tennis Center for its first match of the new year. The Big Red are coming off a strong fall season that saw the team perform well at the Ivy Plus, Dartmouth Invitational, ITA Northeast Regional Championships and Harvard's Chowder Fest. Junior
Eero Vasa turned in an impressive fall with several quality finishes at a pair of ITF M25 Futures events.
Cornell finished the 2018-19 season with a dual record of 14-10, with a 5-2 mark in the Ivy League. The Big Red hope to improve upon that in 2020 with sights set on a return to the NCAA Tournament in May. Cornell boasts a strong lineup in 2020, that still features its top players from last season in
Alafia Ayeni,
Lev Kazakov,
Daniel Soyfer,
Evan Bynoe, Vasa and
Pietro Rimondini.
David Volfson was the lone graduate from last seasons top six singles players. In total, Cornell's returners maintained a 59-32 record a year ago.
Binghamton already owns a 1-1 dual record, losing 7-0 to Brown and defeating Quinnipiac by a score of 5-2 over the weekend. Last season, Binghamton finished with an 8-15 record and an 0-7 mark in the Mid-American Conference. Cornell and Binghamton haven't face one-another since Jan. 19, 2017, a 7-0 victory for the Big Red. Kazakov,

Following its match against Binghamton, Cornell will host Michigan State and Colgate on Sunday, Feb. 2 in the Reis Tennis Center. The Big Red will square-off against the Spartans at noon before meeting Colgate at 4 p.m.
