ITHACA, N.Y. – US Lacrosse Magazine revealed its exclusive list of Division I Men's Preseason All-Americans on Monday morning, and it comes as no surprise that Cornell men's lacrosse attackman
Jeff Teat was among the 13 student-athletes recognized.
After garnering the attention of all three professional lacrosse leagues in the offseason, even despite making his intentions to return to Cornell in 2021 clear, Teat's US Lacrosse Magazine Preseason All-America selection seems only fitting. The preseason All-America accolade marks the fifth of Teat's career, having previously earned Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-America honors three times (2018, 19, 20) and having been named a 2020 USILA Second-Team Preseason All-American.
The Big Red standout was chosen as the No. 1 overall selection by the New York Riptide in the 2020 National Lacrosse League (NLL) Draft, becoming Cornell's first top NLL pick in program history. Teat was also selected 12th overall by the Chaos in the Premier Lacrosse League's (PLL) College Draft and 25th overall by the Boston Cannons in the Major League Lacrosse (MLL) Collegiate Draft last spring.
Teat, who will utilize his fifth season of eligibility at Cornell in 2021, is a two-time Tewaaraton Trophy Nominee, three-time USILA All-American, and four-time Inside Lacrosse Media All-American. He has received All-Ivy accolades on three occasions, including unanimous first-team All-Ivy selections in 2018 and 2019.
During the 2020 campaign, Teat moved into third all-time in career points (268) at Cornell, also sitting third in the Big Red record books in career assists (152) and ninth in career goals (116). He is just one of two players in Cornell history to post three-straight 30-goal, 30-assist seasons and is just one of four to amass 70 points in three-consecutive campaigns from 2017-19. Teat is also just the eighth player in Ivy League history to score 250 career points.
