Friday Night Redux:

•  The Big Red clinched the outright Ivy League title on Friday night with a 4-0 blanking of Yale at Ingalls Rink in New Haven. It marked the third consecutive Ancient Eight title for Cornell and the 20th in program history.
•  Matthew Galajda made 17 saves for his third shutout of the season and the 17th of his collegiate career. Ranked third on the program's all-time list for career shutouts, Galajda now trails David McKee by one for second place and Ben Scrivens '10 by two for the all-time lead.
•  Cornell continued its recent trend of quick starts with three goals inside 14 minutes. The Big Red now has 17 first-period goals in just six February games, which is more than 52 other teams have across all periods for the month.
•  The Big Red's victory, coupled with Harvard's 5-1 win at Clarkson, moved Cornell into sole possession of first place in ECAC Hockey. All 12 of the circuit's teams have three games remaining in the regular season.
•  Cam Donaldson opened the scoring on an extra-attacker goal set up by leading scorer Morgan Barron. The assist pushed Barron to 31 points on the season and gives him 10 points in his last six games.
•  Cornell enters the game at Brown with a six-game winning streak, which is the second-longest active streak in the nation.
•  The Big Red has scored four or more goals in six straight games for the first time since Jan. 24 to Feb. 8, 1997.

Highlights From Friday's Game at Yale:

Chasing Cups:

•  Cornell can clinch its third straight Cleary Cup tonight if defeats Brown and Clarkson loses at home to Dartmouth. It would mark the first time in program history that the Big Red could boast back-to-back-to-back regular-season titles in ECAC Hockey.

Brown Update:

•  The Bears won just three of their first 18 games, but are 4-2-2 in their last eight after a 3-1 victory over visiting Colgate on Friday night. That pulls Brown to 16 points in the ECAC Hockey, which is two points out of the last spot for home ice in the first round of the playoffs.
•  Trey Dodd's shorthanded goal gave Brown a 2-0 lead before Colgate struck back on the same power play in the second period. The Bears then killed off three consecutive Raiders power plays in the third before Cole Quisenberry netted an insurance goal.
•  Offense has been a struggle for Brown, which has just 32 even-strength goals in 26 games. Nationally, only Princeton has fewer (29).
•  Sophomore forward Justin Jallen (#7, 9-4–13, 3 PPGs) leads the team in goals, and with an assist last night he's pulled even with senior forward Brent Beaudoin (#13, 7-6–13) and senior defenseman Zach Giuttari (#8, 3-10–13) for the team lead in scoring. Despite playing on the blue line, Giuttari leads the team in shots on goal (71).
•  Freshman forward Bradley Cocca (#17, 5-4–9, 4 PPGs) leads the squad in power-play goals. Despite its five-on-five struggles, the Bears' power play ranks middle of the pack nationally.
•  Three of the Bears' seven leading scorers are defensemen. In addition to Giuttari, that group includes junior Tony Stilwell (#6, 1-9–10) and freshman Luke Krys (#2, 3-5–8).
•  Senior Gavin Nieto (#1, 6-14-2, 2.59, .911, SO) has started all but four games in goal.
•  Brendan Whittet is in his 10th season as the head coach at his alma mater after previously serving as an assistant coach at Dartmouth.
