Haklik Floor Title Leads Gymnastics at Ivy Classic

ITHACA, N.Y. - The floor gymnasts led the Cornell gymnastics team with a first place finish (49.1) at the Ivy Classic, Sunday. 
 
The Big Red totaled a 192.975 overall to finish close behind third-place Brown (193.050). The Pennsylvania Quakers took home the 2020 Ivy Title with a 194.850 while Yale finished as the runner-up (193. 800). 
 
Cornell placed all six gymnasts in the top six on floor. For the second-straight year, junior Claire Haklik earned the individual title on the floor (9.925). Senior Samantha Henry's 9.85 was good for third place while junior Izzy Herczeg's 9.825 tied for fourth place. Junior Madison Smith and sophomore Sara Maughan each posted a 9.75 for fifth place. Freshman Victoria DeMeo opened the event with the eventual sixth place finish (9.7). 
 
For the first rotation, senior Evelyn Patient finished with a 9.6 for sixth place overall on the bars. Senior Payton Murphy and Herczeg finished in the top-five on beam (4th, 9.825) to close the first two rotations. 
 
The Big Red found itself on the floor for the third rotation before closing the meet on the vault. Senior Maci Prescott, returning from an injury, scored a 9.750 for fifth place on the vault. Sophomore Miranda Lund followed in sixth place with her 9.725 flip. 
 
Cornell will visit Penn State for a quad meet that will also feature Towson and North Carolina State on Saturday, February 29 at 4 p.m.
