HARRISONBURG, Va. - Cornell women's tennis wrapped up its February break road trip on Monday, Feb. 24, falling to James Madison by a final score of 4-1.
Cornell's record drops to 2-11 in the dual season in advance of the Big Red returning home for three straight matches prior to the start of Ivy League play. Cornell will play host to Akron, NJIT and Binghamton starting with the Akron match at Reis Tennis Center on Friday, March 13.
Freshman Fatima El Ashrak picked up Cornell's lone with of the day on Monday, defeating Daria Afanasyeva at No. 2 singles. El Ashram dropped the first set, 6-3, bouncing back to earn a 7-6 win in set two before Afanasyeva retired in the third set. With a win on Monday, El Ashram is now tied for the team-high in singles wins with five.
The Big Red was defeated at No. 1, No. 3 and No. 4 singles to round out the match after losing twice earlier at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. Losing in singles was
