UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Cornell gymnastics teams finished with one of its highest scores on the season at the Penn State Quad-Meet, Saturday evening.
With a 190.750, the Big Red finished fourth in the quad-meet hosted by Penn State, who finished first with a 196.575 score. Visiting NC State closed the meet with 195.850 points for second place while Towson finished third with a 193.750.
The Big Red's top finisher was on bars. Junior
Madison Smith earned a 9.8 for her bars routine, which was good for eighth-place overall. Smith's 9.8 notched a personal record for the junior. Freshman
Darby Kent tallied a career-best 9.7 on bars for the team's second personal record of the day.
On vault, sophomore
Donna Webster finished with a top Cornell score of 9.7 (11th place) while junior Izzy Herceg scored a 9.75 on beam for 12th place.
Closing out the meet, Herczeg and Smith tied for the Big Red's top score on floor. The juniors' 9.75 was good for 11th-place overall.
Cornell will return to action on Friday, March 6 at Rutgers University for another quad-meet.
