ALBANY, N.Y. - Junior goalie
Lindsay Browning became the second goalie in program history to earn two ECAC Hockey Goalie of the Month awards in one season after being named the January 2020 honoree.
The first month of 2020 saw an unbeaten month for Browning and the Big Red. The junior led the team to a 7-0-2 record with four shutout wins. For the second time this season, Browning notched three straight shutouts with a 7-0 win against #9 Harvard (1/18), a 2-0 win against Colgate (1/24) and a 5-0 victory at Colgate (1/25).
Allowing just 6 goals, her .65 goals against average in January was first in the nation while her .954 save percentage from January was sixth in the nation.
The Penfield, N.Y. native anchored her team in wins against Mercyhurst (6-2, 1/4; 2-1 (OT), 1/5), Rensselaer (2-0, 1/11), Dartmouth (5-1, 1/17), #9 Harvard (7-0, 1/18) and Colgate (2-0, 1/24; 5-0, 1/25). The Big Red tied Union (1-1, 1/10) and #7 Clarkson (1-1, 1/31).
Browning is just the second Cornell goalie to earn the Goaltender of the Month award. Having also been tabbed the November ECAC Hockey Goalie of the Month; she joins the
Lauren Slebodnick as the two goalies from Cornell to earn the award twice. Slebodnick was named the January and February 2013 Goalie of the Month.
