ITHACA, N.Y. - Following an undefeated month of play, junior goalie
Lindsay Browning, of Cornell women's ice hockey, has been named the Women's Hockey Commissioners Association (WHCA) National Goaltender of the Month for January.
Browning led the team to a 7-0-2 record, with four shutout wins, and extended the Big Red's unbeaten streak to 13 games. For the second time this season, Browning notched three straight shutouts with a 7-0 win against #9 Harvard (1/18), a 2-0 win against Colgate (1/24) and a 5-0 victory at Colgate (1/25).
Allowing just 6 goals, her .65 goals against average in January was first in the nation while her .954 save percentage from January was sixth in the nation.
Overall, Browning's breakout season as Cornell's starting goalie has her ranked in the top-two nationally in each statistical category. Her .79 goals against average is first, her .959 save percentage and eight shutouts are tied for first and her winning percentage (.891) is second.
Browning is the first ECAC Hockey goalie to earn the national monthly award since the St. Lawrence's Grace Harrison tabbed the March 2019 honor. She is the first Cornellian to earn a national monthly award since their creation in February 2017.
