NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. - With at least one personal record in each event, the Cornell women's gymnastics team finished second place at a tri-meet hosted by Rutgers, Friday night.
The Big Red totaled 190.950 points, which was 4.675 points less than first-place Rutgers and 0.65 points more than third-place Southern Connecticut State.
Cornell notched two top-three performances along with another top-five finish in the tri-meet.
On the vault, senior
Maci Prescott totaled a personal record 9.8 for her flip and a third-place finish. Freshman
Amy Krueger followed her with a season-best 9.7, which was good for seventh-place overall.
Junior
Madison Smith finished first for Cornell on the bars and the beam. Her 9.725 on the uneven bars finished in a three-way tie for fourth while her 9.525 on beam notched the ninth-place spot.
Senior
Samantha Henry rounds out the Big Red's top-two finishes with her floor routine. With a 9.80 on the mat, Henry closed her routine in a five-way tie for second place.
In addition to Kreuger's personal record, freshman
Maddie Watson notched a career-best on the beam with a 9.35 score. Freshman
Victoria DeMeo matched her previous personal record of 9.7 and freshman
Darby Kent competed for her first collegiate beam routine. Sophomore
Miranda Lund and junior
Emily Carr closed out the Cornell personal records of the night with their scores on the floor (9.6) and the bars (9.55), respectively.
The Big Red returns to action with its second dual meet on the season. Cornell will visit West Chester, Pa. for a 12 p.m. meet on Saturday, March 14.
