ITHACA, N.Y. - Three members of the Cornell women's tennis program finished play at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Northeast Super Regional Championships this weekend in Princeton, N.J. Freshman Lan Mi advanced to the round of 16 in singles, while senior Maria Adiaconitei and sophomore Lauren Stein advanced to the doubles quarterfinals.

Adiaconitei and Stein advanced to the quarterfinals following a three-set victory over Yale's Rhea Shrivastava and Caroline Dunleavy. The pair won the first set, 7-5, but dropped set two by the same score. Adiaconitei and Stein rallied to win the third and final set by a score of 10-5. In the round of eight the tandem was defeated in straight sets by the No. 4-seeded Princeton pairing of Daria Frayman and Grace Joyce (6-2, 6-3).

Mi quickly defeated Harvard's Holly Fischer in her round one matchup (6-1, 6-2) before moving on to face Princeton's Brianna Shvets in the round of 16. As a seeded player Shvets posed a tough task for Mi, who dropped her round two matchup in two sets (7-5, 6-2).

Cornell's women's tennis team returns to the court on Friday, Oct. 22 at the Cissie Leary Invitational hosted by the University of Pennsylvania at the Hamlin and Hecht Tennis Centers in Philadelphia, Pa. Play in Philadelphia runs through Sunday, Oct. 24.
